Playing Catch Up (Again): Winter 2011 Wrap Up, Part One!

Day five of our cruise brought us to Costa Maya, a port built for the cruise industry. I think most of the people on our cruise went straight for the beach, but since we're not really lie-on-the-beach-and-drink people, the first thing we did was hop on a bus to visit the Chacchoben Mayan Ruins. But not before enjoying some fresh coconut juice -- we are turistas after all!
Once there, we received a brief history lesson of the area.

Our guide was super nice, but she was all business!

After visiting the ruins, we headed back towards the port and stopped at Mahahual for lunch and shopping. We had Mexican for lunch (of course), but the only picture I snapped during lunch was of the yummy ceviche we had.

And yes, I was pretending to take a picture of the boardwalk and really taking a picture of Mr. and Mrs. Meathead.

What was interesting about the town, was that it was completely destroyed by Hurricane Dean in 2007. Walking around, you could see signs and remnants of the storm.

With time in Costa Maya winding down, we headed back to the port to people-watch.

But it was this guy that caught my eye! (And camera!)

And then before we knew it, it was time to time to head back.
Next up: we're back on the grid!
